Hello Kansas City and welcome back to the Red Kingdom Cleaning Podcast. I’m so glad you joined me on this beautiful summer day to talk about Lee’s Summit Home Cleaning Services. Now at Red Kingdom Cleaning we offer a variety of Lee’s Summit Home Cleaning Services.

We do things such as residential cleaning, recurring cleaning, deep cleaning, move-in cleaning, move-out cleaning. We also do commercial cleans and if there are specific things you’d like to get cleaned and you’re like I don’t know who would do this, contact us and we can let you know if we can. Today you’re going to be going through some of the top questions that we get asked at Red Kingdom Cleaning.

Number one, how often should you clean your oven? Now that all depends on you and how often you use it. We are doing a deep clean for somebody next week that they literally never use their oven. So for them, never.

But if you are somebody that cooks once a month, I mean unless you have a spill really you could probably go a long time. But if you’re somebody that I’ve got multiple kids, I’m cooking multiple meals a week, I’m having a bakery, or things spill in it often, things boil over, you might want to clean your oven maybe every three to six months. I have seen some people online that clean their oven monthly, which an oven cleaning is probably one of the biggest tasks that we do.

It takes a long time, but I guess if you’re doing it more often it wouldn’t be as hard. It does maintain the cleanliness of your oven longer. However, something to think about is there are certain products you want to be very careful of.

So if you have like a blue oven, like the inside is blue, you want to be very careful specifically in that one because they can scratch easier. They can get ruined easier. Careful of any chemicals that you use in it.

And then the glass. The glass I’ve heard just scrubbing it and it shatters. So be very careful of those things whenever you’re going to clean your oven.

We like to use the Tangerine Clean with the Scrub Daddy and Dawn, the Power Wash Dawn soap. So that’s what we use to clean an oven, but it does take a lot of elbow grease if it has not been cleaned in a while. Next question, why do kitchen cabinets get sticky? So usually the stickiest places are around your stove or oven because you’ve got things that bubble over.

You’ve got food kind of being cooked a lot more. You’ve got spills that kind of leak out. Now they’re dropping down on your cabinets.

You have grease. Then you have that smoke that’s going up. So usually like right above the oven is just the stickiest part.

So when you have a sticky cabinet like that, you want to wash them more often. But if you have a cabinet that’s kind of far away that’s not used very often, those usually aren’t. Also, if you have little kids, their hands are touching other things and then they touch your cabinets, they might have sticky hands that are now on it, especially those below cabinets when you’re cooking and then things spill.

And now they’re on there and you might have wiped it down, but maybe you didn’t get the stickiness off. So kitchens tend to be kind of the stickiest and the longest thing that we do of any part of the house just because it has a lot more use. You’re cooking in it.

You’re living in it. You’ve got family motion in the room and that can cause just a lot more possibilities for things to get sticky. Next question, what’s the dirtiest part of a kitchen? Now I’ll probably say number one, the trash can.

There’s a lot of things that go in there. You got meat juice and all kinds of things. So that’s something I would recommend wiping down the top of, the inside of the lid, taking your trash out maybe like once a month and just kind of wiping out the inside because that really is probably the dirtiest thing.

Number two would probably be your sink. Those two areas see a lot of things happening. You cook meat.

You wash your hands in the sink. Now that is down, you know, the bottom of it. You’re cooking meat and you pour out the juice or you have eggs and you put them in the garbage.

Like there’s just a lot of things happening between those two places. Outside of that, probably your dirtiest places are behind the things you don’t typically wipe down in a kitchen. So there’s areas in my kitchen that I wouldn’t say like if I’m cooking and then I wipe down, I’m going to pull out every single thing and wipe behind them.

So I probably say that number two because those areas can get pretty gross over time. It’s easy to happen. Next question, what causes odors in a kind of forgotten things? So food that’s left in the fridge, food left out, food in the trash can can cause some serious odors.

I know like when we’ve traveled and we come home and we open our fridge and there’s a smell. It’s because food had been sitting in there too long. Also your trash can.

So if you throw something away, you want to immediately take out your trash. If you throw away some meat or you throw away some old food or just any food, it’ll begin to become old food over time. So you just want to be mindful of that in your trash can.

How do you keep kitchens clean between cleanings? So number one, whenever you cook, just kind of wipe down after. So wipe down the stove, wipe down the counters and that’s just an easy way to kind of maintain it. Number two, the dishes when we come, that can make the house feel a lot dirtier than it is.

But also it stacks up and then it’s overwhelming and then you’re like, well I’ll just get to it later and the dishes just get gigantic. And then now they’re spilling on the counter and that might cause you not to want to cook anymore. So I’d say the number one thing, try to do your dishes whenever it comes up.

I’m saying that right as I’m looking at my sink and there’s some dishes. They did start, stop our water. They’re doing some construction on our street and they turned off our water so I can’t wash them.

I’m looking at them like, oh I need to wash them and put them in the dishwasher. So it definitely can add up very quickly. What kitchen cleaning mistakes do most people make? I’d say using the wrong product on something.

So you use something and it actually didn’t have disinfectant in it or you use the same thing you used in the bathroom like a rag or a sponge. Now it’s on the kitchen. Or maybe use the wrong product and now something got ruined.

It’s very easy to use the wrong, especially if you’ve got like customized things, like customized cabinets and stoves. Things like that can, if you don’t use the right thing, can definitely ruin the item itself. So you do just want to be very careful.

Stainless steel, like if you have a stainless steel fridge and you use a sponge with a scratchy side on it, that’ll for sure scratch up something. If you got stainless steel appliances and you’re using magnets on it, it will 100% scratch very quickly. So things like that can make permanent scars on your fridge.

So something just kind of mindful of. Does a clean home improve health? Yes. If you’ve had sickness in your home, getting it cleaned often or just cleaning it yourself and cleaning all the doorknobs and the light switches and the heavily touched areas in the bathroom and it’ll help stop things from getting dirty.

If you cook with meat and you didn’t wipe down the counters after, you’ll obviously have germs now on your counter. Then you go touch it later. So just the general health of it, yes for sure.

Cleaning. Also if you’ve got like allergies, like we did a house the other day, but the house is very nice and I could definitely tell that they clean the house. Like they do the toilets and stuff like that, but the baseboards and getting behind things to sweep and things like that, it was extremely dusty.

The vents, especially in the bathrooms, really bad. That can increase your allergies. So it stays there.

Now you’ve got like all the dust in the air. I know we did that house. I think I sneezed like 20 times because there’s just a lot of dust coming up.

So that’s something just to be mindful of. I wouldn’t have thought of that because the house looked really nice and really clean, but there’s a lot of like hidden things like the baseboards and your vents that I would say most people don’t probably typically think of or typically clean that really can make a difference on your health.
