Hello Kansas City, and welcome back to the Red Kingdom Cleaning Podcast, your go-to for Lee’s Summit home cleaning services.

We’re so glad you joined us tonight to talk more about our Lee’s Summit home cleaning services. Tonight, we’ll be going through some of the questions that we get most often so you can have as much information as possible before you decide on your Lee’s Summit home cleaning service.

How do I know if I need a deep clean?

A couple things. Some people say, “Man, I feel like I clean, but it just never feels clean enough.”

Or if you’re moving into a home, moving out of a home, have not been home very much, or have kids and dogs, some of those things can let you know, “Hey, my home probably needs a more thorough clean than I can give it.”

But there are other things that we’d be looking for that we would do specifically on a deep clean.

Number one, if you have dusty baseboards. That’s something that most people do not do during their normal home cleaning. During a deep clean, we go through and clean all the baseboards in your house. We go on our hands and knees and scrub those.

Your door trim and your doors are details that you typically do not do on a regular basis.

If you’ve got fingerprints, if you’ve got buildup in your showers, and you’re like, “I scrub and scrub. I just cannot seem to get that off,” some of that might be stains. We may not be able to get that off either, but we do have tools and products that we can use to get things off that most people might not be able to.

We’ve got professional cleaners, and this is all they do. We can get hard water stains off, things like that.

If you have sticky kitchen surfaces and you can’t get it off, if the inside of your oven has a lot of buildup, if the inside of your fridge has buildup, or if the inside of your microwave has buildup, those things can make your home feel really dirty without even realizing it.

If you have dirty vents or certain corners of your house, or if you’ve got an area of your home that maybe you don’t regularly clean and it’s gotten built up, those are signs a deep clean would be helpful.

We do recommend that before we get on a recurring clean with you, you do a deep clean because it gets your home to a good reset.

That way, when we maintain it, we’re actually maintaining a clean home. It’ll ensure that as time goes on, it maintains clean.

If you have dirty baseboards and they aren’t cleaned the first time, it may still feel dirty even though it’s been cleaned because there are certain areas of your house that weren’t cleaned. It still continues to build up.

A deep clean is what we recommend the first time, and then after that, we maintain it at an excellent level.

Is monthly cleaning enough?

Monthly cleaning can be enough for some homes.

It does depend. If you do not have kids in the home, if you’re not home very often, or you don’t have dogs, monthly might be just fine based on what you’re needing.

It depends on how well the home is maintained between visits.

If you’re someone who keeps up with dishes, counters, floors, bathrooms, and clutter during the month, monthly cleaning may be a great fit.

It can provide a nice reset and help with the deeper tasks that you do not want to do yourself.

But for some busy families, monthly cleaning can feel like too much time between visits. By the time the cleaners come back, the bathrooms may have a lot of buildup, the floors may need extra work, and the kitchen can feel overwhelming again.

In that case, monthly cleaning can start to feel like a mini deep clean every time instead of a true maintenance clean.

Bi-weekly cleaning is often better for families with kids, pets, frequent visitors, or a busy schedule.

It can keep the home from getting too far behind. It makes each visit more manageable.

The best schedule is the one that keeps your home at the level you actually want.

If monthly cleaning leaves you stressed for three weeks out of the month, bi-weekly cleaning may be a better investment.

Is a bi-weekly clean worth it?

Bi-weekly cleaning is absolutely worth it for many households because it keeps the home consistently manageable.

Instead of waiting until the house feels overwhelming, the cleaning team comes in every two weeks to reset the main areas before things get too far.

One of the biggest benefits of bi-weekly cleaning is that it creates a rhythm.

Bathrooms stay cleaner, floors stay under control, dust does not have as much time to build up, and the kitchen stays fresher.

Because the home is being maintained more often, each cleaning can usually be more consistent.

It is especially helpful for families with pets, kids, full-time jobs, home businesses, or anyone who feels like cleaning is always on their mind.

When you have regular help, you’re not spending your evenings and weekends trying to catch up on the house.

You can focus more on your family, your work, your rest, and your life.

Bi-weekly cleaning is not about being fancy or lazy. For a lot of people, it is practical.

It’s a way to buy back time, reduce stress, and keep your home feeling peaceful.

What rooms should be cleaned every week?

That really depends on you, but usually what we have on the schedule is bathrooms, kitchens, and main living areas.

Your bathrooms need regular attention because they collect germs, soap scum, hair, toothpaste, moisture, and odors.

Toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, showers, and floors can get dirty really quickly.

Kitchens also need weekly cleaning because food prep areas collect crumbs, grease, spills, fingerprints, and bacteria.

Counters, sinks, appliance fronts, stovetops, cabinet fronts, and floors should be cleaned regularly to keep the kitchen fresh and sanitary.

Your main living areas should be dusted and vacuumed. Main living areas are places like a sitting area, dining area, and living room.

Entryways should be dusted and vacuumed or mopped most often because they get the most foot traffic.

If you have kids or pets, these areas need attention more frequently.

Then your bedrooms. They may not need attention every single week, but they still benefit from dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and fresh bedding.

I personally like to change my sheets every single week, and I feel better. We do have dogs, so it tends to feel like it gets built up.

The goal is to focus weekly effort on the areas that affect health, comfort, and daily life the most.

What gets missed the most when people clean their own homes?

The most common missed areas are the details that do not stand out until they get really dirty.

Baseboards are a big one. They collect dust, pet hair, and grime, but because they’re too low to the ground, people tend to overlook them.

Doors and trim also collect fingerprints and smudges, especially around the handles of the doors.

Other commonly missed spots are light switches, outlet covers, vents, ceiling fans, blinds, window sills, behind toilets, the base of toilets, cabinet fronts, under furniture, and the tops of appliances.

Those are easy areas to miss.

In the kitchen, grease can build up on cabinet doors, the backsplash, and inside appliances without people noticing it.

These missed areas are why a home can feel picked up but still not feel completely clean.

Professional cleaners are trained to notice the edges, corners, and high-touch areas that make a big difference in the overall feel of a home.

A good habit is to choose one detail area each week.

Maybe one week, you wipe off the doors and light switches. Another week, you dust vents and fans. Over time, those small details will definitely help make your home feel even cleaner.

There are certain shelves in my house that, if I didn’t have cleaners, would never get cleaned because they’re too high for me to reach. I’d have to get a ladder and get up there. But they make sure everything is maintained really well.

Why does my house still feel dirty after I clean?

A house can still feel dirty after cleaning for a few reasons.

One common reason is cleaning in the wrong order.

If you vacuum first and then dust, the dust falls onto the clean floor and you feel like you have to start over.

It’s usually best to work from top to bottom and do the floors last.

Another reason is clutter.

Even if the surfaces are technically clean, too much clutter can make the home feel chaotic.

Sometimes the issue is not dirt, but visual overwhelm.

Cleaning your counters, putting away random items, and finding the surfaces can make a room feel even cleaner.

The third reason is missed details.

Baseboards, doors, vents, corners, mirrors, and floors around the edges can make a bigger impact than you may realize.

If those areas are dusty or grimy, the whole room can feel unfinished.

Finally, your product or your tools may be leaving residue.

Too much floor cleaner can leave it feeling sticky. A dirty mop can spread grime around. A dusty cloth can just move the dust around.

Getting the right order, tools, and details can make a huge difference in how your home feels.
