Hello, Lee’s Summit, and welcome back to the Red Kingdom Cleaning Podcast. I’m so glad that you’ve joined us today on this beautiful day here in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. I’m so excited to talk about Lee’s Summit House Cleaning Service with you to talk about what we at Red Kingdom Cleaning do to maintain homes here in the Lee’s Summit area.

The last few podcasts we’ve talked about what does it look like to have your house cleaned? What does a deep clean look like? Now we’re gonna be asking just some questions about your house in general, and then you can glean from it anything that you’d like that would help you maintain your Lee’s Summit home. Question number one, why does my house still feel dirty after I clean it? Now, there’s different levels of clean. Some people’s clean is other people’s not clean.

So it all depends on what you specifically clean. So if you cleaned areas of your home that are more hidden, things like that, that’d be different than if you just cleaned the floors. There’s not a few clean floors, but you’re like, man, it still feels and smells dirty.

Be like, well, have you cleaned out the fridge? Is there smell in there? Is there old onions? Have you taken out the trash? Have you, is there a pile of clothes on the floor that you’ve worn to the gym and now they’re sweaty? Like there’s certain things in the home that, man, I cleaned this area, but there’s still some smells coming from other places. That’s a quick one to look at is have I cleaned every surface area of my home? If not, then that’d be a first place to start. Now, we had a deep clean to make sure that your home feels and looks great at the end of your clean.

Another thing that can still make it feel dirty, we’ve had new clients of ours that have said, wow, like I had my house cleaned, but the cleaners only spent, there’s two people here for two hours. So basically it’s four hours of cleaning. But my house still felt dirty.

Well, we would come in and clean that house, five people, four people, for four hours. Well, that’s 16 or 20 hours of cleaning on that house. That is a very different level of clean.

We’re very thorough. We make sure everything on our checklist that we create with you is complete before we finish. Now, another reason it might still feel dirty, that was one of those clients that we just recently acquired.

She was like, I had two cleaners here for two hours. You know, we give her four cleaners for four hours. So, and that’s just because of her home.

It’s quite large. So it just takes a lot of people to maintain it. But she was like, at the end of it, my feet were kind of sticking to the floor.

Well, that’s because their product, either they weren’t diluting it enough with water or they weren’t using the right kind of products and left the floor really sticky. So it didn’t mean that they didn’t do anything. It wasn’t because they really hadn’t touched it.

It’s because they weren’t using the products correctly to make sure it was diluted enough so it wasn’t leaving a sticky film at the end of their clean. Number 22, how do I get rid of pet hair and odors in my home? And number one, the best way to maintain a home that has pets, because we have pets, is continually to clean the house. If things build up, it will 100% smell like pets.

That’s just the deal. No matter if you have your house cleaned monthly, in between the cleans, you will have to make sure that the house is clean and picked up because there’s just hair floating around. Especially if your pet has accidents in the house, that’ll just lead to the home smelling like pets.

Because they are, there are pets in your home. So if you have couch cushions, taking them off once a week and cleaning them. If you have sheets and comforters that the dogs ever touch, cleaning those, if they have, like we have the MyPillow dog beds in our home.

Those are great because you can literally take the comforters off the outer layer and wash those so it makes sure that your home does smell better. If you have kennels, like our kennels are in our living room, but they’re in a nice decorative furniture, we take those out and sweep them underneath once a week. So that way there’s any hidden hairs picked up, that all those things can help maintain the home.

You can also try those air fresheners in the wild, but those are just gonna cover up the smell. It’s not gonna actually get rid of it. So the more you can clean your home when you have a pet, the more it’ll smell better, it’ll smell good.

Also washing your dog more frequently will help. The cleaner your dog is, the more it’ll smell. Sometimes also it can be food.

My parents are very good about maintaining their home. They also have a Doberman and a Cavalier King Charles, and the Doberman was smelling. And so they changed up his diet and he’s not smelling anymore.

So how they keep the food too can also make a difference in the smell of your home. Number 23, what is the fastest way to clean your house before guests arrive? The hardest thing about cleaning your house before guests arrive is you’re zooming all over the house. The easiest way is to pick a certain area, clean up that area first.

If you actually have baskets that you throw everything in that’s not meant to be in that room, throw it in the basket, go to the next room. If there’s anything in that basket that belongs in that room, take it out. Anything that doesn’t belong in that room, put it in the basket, go to the next room.

Instead of zipping around. I know that’s an issue for me is I zip around the whole house. I admit I got a lot of steps in because I was here and I was there, but it didn’t feel clean for a long time because I was zipping around so much instead of focusing on one area at a time, feeling accomplished, and then moving to the next area of the home.

24, how do I keep my house clean with a busy schedule? Now, this all just depends on the person. My personal recommendation is the more times that you just do the thing you need to get done at that moment, the better your house will look and feel over time. So if you can, when something arrives in the mail, put it away or use it, the better.

So if you leave it sitting out on the counter for a really long time, then the next item that comes along, you’re just gonna leave it sitting on the counter for a really long time. And then the next item, you’re just gonna leave there sitting. It very quickly builds up.

You’re like, oh, that’s gonna be a big project. I’ll save it for another day. Well, now it’s compounded and you have a bunch of things that are saved for a rainy day.

So the best thing to do to maintain your home is when something comes up, do it in the moment. Even if you’re busy, you’re like, hey, I’ve got one minute to put this away. Perfect, you have one minute.

And then you don’t have to do 30 minutes later because you didn’t do the thing you need to do in the moment. And that’s something I’m always speaking to myself. I’m cleaning as I’m doing this podcast.

I’m like, man, I should have done this in the moment. I should have hung that item. I should have put that away.

I should have whatever, done it in the moment. And now then I wouldn’t have to be doing a bunch of little things that I hadn’t done in the moment. Number 25, what are the biggest mistakes homeowners make? Cleaning mistakes.

I’d say postponing it. Feel like, oh, I’ll get a house cleaner at some point, but I’m just gonna wipe down the tops of my kitchen. Like your floors are gonna get really built up.

So I would just say, this is something you are actually really wanting. I would do it now before your home builds up. And then you’re like, man, this is a big undertaking to do.

Or you have to do 5X the number of deep cleaning on the house because it hadn’t been maintained over time. 27, why do bathrooms get dirty so quickly and how do you keep them clean? Well, number one, you’re using them. That’s number one, like used house in your home.

Between that and the kitchen, you use those most frequently. So you are showering and shaving and doing your makeup and everything else that you do in that room, it just is gonna build up over time. So those areas, if you do just a little bit every day, making sure if you’ve got contact cases, like the little like disposal ones, throw them away whenever you use them.

Or if you use a toothpaste, put it back in the drawer or put your toothbrush on the toothbrush holder. Like just don’t just leave stuff out. It’ll feel dirtier over time.

So just in the moment, whenever you’re done using something, put it away. Towels, make sure you have a good spot to put your towels at the end of the day. Not just throwing them on the floor or they’re building up and you’re stacking them on top of each other.

Just in the moment, the best way to maintain your home, in the moment, do the right thing. Whatever that is for you. Don’t postpone it and wait till later.
